Students develop skill, using electronic/desktop publishing software to create a variety of camera ready documents. All assignments unless otherwise stated are to be completed in Microsoft Publisher.

Please submit all assignments as you complete them. Please print in color where indicated. Your assignments can be e-mailed to the secretaries in the office to be printed in color. You must get your school e-mail information from your teacher.

An important note about images

Stock images can be found free on the internet. Doing a google search for "free stock images" will assist you in finding images to use in your projects that are often of very good quality and are free for you to use in projects. Keep this in mind as you work through these assignments.

Assignment #1 - Introduction to Design/Layout Principles (2 -3 classes)
Use images from magazines to complete this assignment. Photocopying images from magazines in the library if you have limited resources for this assignment. Ensure that you are submitting a tidy, easy to read package when complete.

Obtain a handout for the assignment instructions.

Assignment #3 - Postcard Announcement for Jazz Concert (1 class)

Assignment #4 - Three Fold Brochure for Non-Profit (5 classes)

Assignment #5 - Tropy Logo (2 classes)
The directions for this assigment can be found at the link above. Create a logo for a business.

Assignment #6 - Design a Logo (2 classes)
Design a logo for Skills Canada Alberta. Read the assignment instructions at the link above. Follow the directions regarding color choice very closely. This competition is now over. However, use your skills to design a logo that could be used by the organization. They have been very specific in their requirements.

Assignment #7 - Magazine Look A Like (4 classes)
Design a Magazine cover!At the link above you will find specifications of this assignment. The first task is to find the cover of a magazine you would like to duplicate. Choose a cover that will challenge your skills. Read the assignment outline carefully. Your mark will reflect the difficulty level of the type of project you choose. Print in color. DON'T forget to submit the orignal cover with the finished product!

Assignment #8 - Flyer (2 classes)
The instructions for this assignment are located at the link above. You will design a coupon flyer for your own pizza restaurant. Look at pizza coupon flyers online for ideas. Print in color.
